Generally speaking farsightedness refers to eyes that are weak, too weak to focus on their own. The opposite of nearsightedness. Weak muscles do tend to get weaker in time. There are two types of of the condition, one is strictly related to age, starting in early forties and extending out to about mid fifties. It is what causes all of us to lose our natural reading ability, necessitating reading glasses.

The type of farsightedness that starts early in life continues to get worse as one ages. This type must be carefully treated and handled wisely by the experienced surgeon.
